If you're going to have such a high-tech alarm system installed in your car that it sounds for 20 minutes when someone so much as sneezes near it and changes tone every 5 seconds, and if you insist on arming it every night even though your car is parked in a patrolled lot, please have the courtesy to turn it off when it sounds at 3 in the morning. Some of us can't sleep through that kind of din.

LOL...I've been setting off my car alarm rather frequently as of late. I try not to do it at 3.00am though.
As long as you turn it off as quickly as you can--it's the letting it go on and on part that's most annoying.
While living in San Francisco, my room was about 200 feet from a hypersensitive shop alarm. By the time I got back from 9-to-5, it would be off.
Sometimes almost a week went by between alarm concertos.
I think the alarm does not work... it is just a distraction and annoyance to everyone. The would be robbers are probably sophisticated enough to steal it in less than a minute. I have never read about the stolen car being 'saved' because of the alarm.
